Hello! I'm Sharon. Welcome to Whiskfully So!
I'm a baker, food photographer, story teller and designer.
how it all began
whiskfully so is the place i'd been dreaming about: a place for delicious decadent pastries and cakes; and most importantly a place for learning and creative fun!
Most food blogs begin with a life-long obsession with food, my journey was the total opposite. I was extremely sceptical of flavors growing up, and I rarely ventured out of my comfort zone. That all changed when I moved to New York to purse my dream of being a fashion designer.
Art has always been my first passion, and moving to New York was my biggest dream. I spent an amazing six years honing my craft and working at some of the biggest names in fashion. It didn't take long for me to find out though that while fashion may be glamorous on the outside, the hours were anything but.
I was stressed all the time, mentally drained, and my creativity suffered. So I baked! There was something so encouraging about conquering a challenging bake or trying a new recipe. After a long week at work, I would bake my stress away, kneading bread dough to air out all my stress. Soon I found myself thinking about baking all the time. Dreaming about cakes, pastries, things I wanted to create but didn't have time for. Then 2020 hit, and I was forced to move home. It isn't a path I would have chosen, but I think it was for the best.
What you'll learn here
Storytelling is one of my greatest passions! You'll find photography resources and styling guides teaching you how to style everything from savory dishes to cakes!
what recipes you'll find
I believe that a good pastry is worth the time and patience. Combining my love for art and food, here you find classic desserts like madeleines, molten chocolate lava cakes or even comforting savory quiches all with an artistic and elegant touch.
I can't guarantee that all the recipes here will be butter-less - I love butter - but I can promise high quality seasonal ingredients balanced with some wholesome healthier recipes.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Pull up a chair, get comfy, grab a fork, and I invite you to learn, taste, and eat along with me in the kitchen - let’s make our baking dreams a reality!
Facts and Questions
what do you do outside of the blog?
I'm a fashion designer! I moved to NYC for a college degree in fashion, and I worked two years as a designer in NYC before having to moving back home to Toronto, Canada.
how did you get into photography?
Fun fact: I had zero interest in learning photography while in fashion school. Ironic because fashion and photography go hand-in-hand. But I would always be photographing what I ate. Once I started the blog, I dove right into learning professional food photography.
